Reload

It's been the sort of week where it feels like I should be standing on top of a pile of bullet shells, with two smoking guns in my hand, wondering when the next attack will occur.

This week has gifted me with the horror of seeing a loved one hooked up to an oxygen mask, tubes and a ECG. I've felt my heart stop when I watched her colour fade from her face as she lay unconscious after surgery. I've seen both the glory of our health system and the havoc a simple mistake by a doctor can generate. It's been a week that has confirmed the truths I have in my life, both for good and ill. I've seen how wonderful people can be, and how selfish. I've seen enough, and now I want to just go back to being a geek, being a writer, and worrying about useless shit.

Although with all that's happened, there was a moment of break out laughter, when an old friend, commenting on everything that had occurred, said that at least I was now closer to fulfilling my dream of being married to this woman.

Well, I suppose.

Ha! 2 things popped into my head:

One: The mental picture of you standing on a pile of spent shells, etc. cries out for a movie poster. Tagine - "Next week just got better...". I wish I was better at Photoshop.

Two: Boy howdy, but that video brought me back. I don't think I've seen that intro in a few decades. It made my day.

Sorry to hear about yer missus and I hope they provided her with some good pain relief. Something stronger than the Tylenol 3's

Anyway, I believe the original Bionic Woman is spoken for - didn't she and Steve Austin get married in one of those remake/reunion TV-movies so popular in the '90s? 'A Bionic Wedding'?

I just saw the episode of VENTURE BROTHERS where they meet Steve Summers, their homage to the bionic shows of the Seventies.

Vulcan Ninja pointed out that Jamie Summers' bionic ears--for all their technological awesomeness--wouldn't work if her hair was covering her ear. Jamie *always* had to move her hair from her ear for the 'tzzt tzzt' sound to work. You'd think they'd have taken that into account, but it was the Seventies and everyone was probably on coke and dancing at the disco until one a.m., so you gotta let it go.

Little known fact: Lindsey Wagner was in the running to play Captain Janeway on VOYAGER after Genevive Bujold left the role. But apparently the producers wanted to go with the bullish schoolmarm look, so it went to WhatsHerFace instead.

I think Steve and Sasquatch make a great couple. Especially since they are both bi.

For some reason, while you're in the hospital they have no problem giving you morphine, but when they send you home all you get in something like T3s or similar, which barely takes the edge of the blinding pain. I've been there. I have the disfiguring scars to prove it.

I am not old enough to have watched that show back in the day, only the more recent remake which lacked whatever made this one work.

Man, that could have been a much better show with her in charge. I always thought it funny that they talked about having the first female captain. Well, yes, but unfortunately she kind of used to be a man. Right? Am I right? ;-)
